Welcome to the Applied Spatial Wildlife Ecology Lab
at the University of Maryland

Humans and wildlife are increasingly coming into contact, and the risk of zoonotic disease transmission is rising as a result. The Applied Spatial Wildlife Ecology Lab (ASWEL) seeks to understand how wildlife movement dynamics interact with zoonotic disease through the study of wildlife ecology with a focus on spatial epidemiology.

A whimsical flow chart that uses line drawings and curly arrows to depict the research of the ASWEL lab. The process includes tracking wildlife using cameras or GPS collars, performing spatial analysis, and creating policy/management recommendations.
